Data protection policy



In the context of the use of all its websites and virtual spaces, hereafter the Site, the Magellan Network gives special importance to the protection of personal data collected on its users (hereafter the Persons Concerned).

In order to fully comply with the provisions of law no.78-17 of 6 January 1978, as interpreted by the National Commission for Data Protection (hereafter the Data Protection Law), the Magellan Network undertakes to comply with the commitments set forth in this data protection policy as regards the Persons Concerned.


Persons Concerned are systematically informed of any collection of personal data undertaken, including:

  • the identity of the person in charge of data processing;
  • the purpose of data processing;
  • whether responses are mandatory or optional;
  • the potential consequences for the person concerned in the absence of a response;
  • the recipients or class of recipients of the data;
  • the existence of and procedure to exercise rights of access, opposition and rectification of personal data;
  • if applicable, the planned transfer of personal data to a non-European Union country.


The consent of Persons Concerned is systematically sought by the Magellan Network, other than in exceptional cases as described at article 7 of the Data Protection Law, and particularly where data processing is in the legitimate interests of the person in charge of data processing, or of the recipient, and provided that the basic rights and freedoms of the Persons Concerned are not disregarded.


All personal data collection undertaken by the Magellan Network is carried out for clear, explicit and legitimate reasons,and in particular to facilitate the delivery of the Magellan Network’s information or services as requested by the Persons Concerned, or for the purposes of obtaining statistics or for scientific research in the Magellan Network's sector.

Person responsible for data processing

As regards all processing of personal data by the Magellan Network on its Site, responsibility for data processing under the Data Protection Law falls to the Magellan Network, a limited liability company with a capital of EUR 7,622.45, registered with the trade register under the number 421 151 036, headquartered at 14 rue Delambre, Paris (75014).

Rights of Persons Concerned

All Persons Concerned by the processing of personal data have the right to access, rectify, delete or oppose their personal data.

For more information on the substance of these rights, Persons Concerned are invited to consult the CNIL website at www.cnil.fr.

To exercise these rights, Persons Concerned are invited to send a specific request either by email to communication(at)magellan-network.com or by post to Magellan Network, 14 rue Delambre, 75014 Paris.

This request must be accompanied by a copy of a valid document proving the identity of the Person Concerned.

Data security

The Magellan Network makes its best efforts to ensure that personal data collected through its site is as secure as possible.Persons Concerned can request additional information on this subject using the contact form available on the website, on the page http://www.magellan-network.com/en/contact-us/

The Magellan Network takes all reasonable contractual measures to require each of its subcontractors that handles personal data to offer a high level of security, as well as to make the same commitments as those undertaken by the Magellan Network in compliance with the Data Protection Law.

Recipients of data

The Persons Concerned, the Magellan Network and any of its subcontractors, and persons responsible for data processing have access to personal data collected.

The Magellan Network does not circulate personal data collected to any recipient as defined by article 3-II of the Data Protection Law excepting, for certain data, those users duly authorized to access the members-only area of the Site.

Data conservation

Personal data relating to Persons Concerned cannot be conserved for longer than is strictly necessary for management and customer relations purposes, and in any event, not for more than three (3) years as of the end of the customer relationship.

Data acting as proof of rights or of a contract, or kept in compliance with a legal requirement, can be archived under current legislation (notably under the provisions of the commercial law code, the civil code and the consumer code).

In the event that rights to access or rectification are exercised, identity documents are kept for one (1) year.

In the event that the right to oppose the use of data is exercised, this data can be archived for a period of three (3) years.

Information stored on users' devices (e.g. cookies), or any other data used to identify and trace users is not kept for any longer than twelve (12) months.New visits to the site do not allow for extending the period for which this information is kept.
Raw viewing statistics associated to a username are kept for no more than twelve (12) months.Beyond this period, data is either deleted or made anonymous.

  • "groupe_user_connecte": records the user group - access settings.
  • "langue_user_connecte": records the user's language
  • "premier_login": records whether or not it is the first time the user has connected to the site
  • "status_user": records the user's status (available or not)
  • "tstamp_user": records the timestamp when the user closes the chat window
  • "user_chat": records the user's uid
